Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2017

A thrilling encounter

Match Summary

The 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was a thrilling encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on April 25th, the match saw a clash of two evenly matched teams who battled it out for supremacy.

RCB, led by their talismanic captain Virat Kohli, won the toss and elected to bat first. The team got off to a flying start, with openers Chris Gayle and Mandeep Singh putting on a 66-run partnership for the first wicket. Gayle, in particular, was in devastating form, smashing four sixes and three fours in his blistering 38-ball 63. However, SRH bowlers fought back, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar picking up the key wickets of both Gayle and Kohli in quick succession.

Despite losing their top order cheaply, RCB managed to post a respectable total of 148 runs for the loss of seven wickets, thanks to a crucial 34 from AB de Villiers. In response, SRH got off to a steady start, with openers Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner putting on 34 for the first wicket. However, the RCB bowlers, led by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, struck regularly, picking up wickets at crucial intervals to keep SRH under pressure.

As the match reached its climax, SRH required 16 runs from the final over, with just one wicket in hand. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had been promoted up the order, smashed a six and a four off the first two balls of the over to bring the equation down to 6 from 4 balls. However, Umesh Yadav held his nerve, bowling a superb yorker to dismiss Kumar and seal a thrilling victory for RCB.

In the end, RCB emerged victorious by 14 runs, securing their second win of the season. Virat Kohli was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance, which included a crucial 26 with the bat and economical bowling figures of 1/21.
