A Free European Song Contest (FESC) Is Here
When Netflix’s Eurovision Song Contest movie came out in 2020 and featured its famous song-along scene, it sparked a resurgence of interest in the competition. Now, two stars of Eurovision are teaming up to bring a new song contest to Europe.
Austrian singer and artist Tom Neuwirth, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 as Conchita Wurst, and German TV presenter Steven Gätjen will host the FESC. The contest will feature 16 countries competing with original songs.
The FESC will be broadcast live on April 6, 2021, on YouTube. The winner will be determined by a combination of jury and public vote.
The FESC is a non-profit event that aims to promote European culture and diversity. The proceeds from the event will be donated to charity.
