Dwight Yorke: A Footballing Legend

Early Life

Dwight Eversley Yorke CM was born on 3 November 1971 in Canaan, Trinidad and Tobago. He is a Trinidadian and Tobagonian professional football coach and former player who was most recently the manager of Macarthur FC.

Playing Career

Yorke began his professional football career in England with Aston Villa in 1989. He played for the club for six seasons before moving to Manchester United in 1998. With United, he won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and one UEFA Champions League title. Yorke also played for Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Sydney FC, and Sunderland AFC before retiring in 2009.

International Career

Yorke made his international debut for Trinidad and Tobago in 1989. He played for the national team for 15 years and made 74 appearances, scoring 19 goals. Yorke captained the team to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, their first and only appearance at the tournament.

Coaching Career

After retiring from playing, Yorke began his coaching career in 2010 as assistant manager of Trinidad and Tobago. He was appointed manager of Macarthur FC in 2021 but was sacked in 2022.
